Give Your Room That Country Style Within Your Budget

By Daniel Akinson

When you are decorating a home or room, you want to have a specific style. The designs that you choose will help set the tone and mood for the room as a means of expressing your personality, style or interests. Decorating bears the personality, tastes and preferences of the person or persons who create the room.

Americans show a preference in the manner that they decorate, they enjoy having rooms flowing into each other and accessories which give insight into their personality. Country style is one of the most popular themes used in American decor. More than a quarter of Americans have this in their homes! Even though a country style is a popular theme, it can become extremely expensive to decorate all of your rooms in this manner. Here are a few ideas to cut the expense while maintaining the decorating style.

1. Begin with painting the rooms in cream or white paint. The majority of country decor relies on soft earth tones for painting to provide a comforting and relaxed feel. White or cream colors are more comforting and relaxing, plus they will help all of your accessories and artwork stand out.

2. By using simple decorating plans you greatly decrease your out of pocket expenses. Items made from less expensive woods such as oak or pine are lighter on your wallet and provide a clean fresh look.

Tip #3 - Avoid the use of bolder, harsher patterns and colors. You will want to coordinate designs that are muted earth tones and elegant. It is also possible to pick conventional accessories and traditional ones to embellish the place. Woven fabrics, plaids, simple stripes and small patterns all fit well into this scheme.

Tip #4 - Check local garage sales or other re-sale outlets for used furniture as opposed to purchasing brand new items. Just use paint and cloth to cover up any damage this furniture has incurred.

5. Fill vases or empty glass with fresh cut flowers. Create the country style theme with the help of decorative paints.

6. Windows without curtains can be considered simple and stylish. This will make the interior really open up and make it seem more relaxed. If this is not your preference to leave your windows uncovered, plain simple panels, valances or Roman shades can be incorporated into the country style. You can even add a little character to your windows by simply draping a simple vine of greenery or flowers over top of the opening.

7. Mirrors should not be used in abundance, and the use of candles is encouraged. You can make your own DIY lamp out of boxes, cans, vases, pots and old jars. These items can be used individually or a combination secured together and the light kit inserted in the middle.

8. Wood flooring is the perfect compliment to country style decorating. By leaving the wood floor uncovered it gives a natural warm feel to the room. Keep the sitting area and the bed clean with cotton or sea grass woven rugs.
