Want to learn how to paint furniture? If yes, you must first learn the fact that painting furniture is different from painting other objects and structures. Learn the best way to paint your furniture by reading more of this article.

For painting furniture, know that there are actually three (3) types of paint that you can select from. These paints are namely, latex or water based paint, oil based paint, and lastly, lacquer based paint. Lacquer based paint is the least popular among the choices because many States have strict rules and guidelines on their usage. Check your local laws on this. To be safe, choose either water based paint or oil based paint.

If you are painting furniture that will be used outdoors, it's recommended that you use latex or water based paint. This type of paint is highly resistant to damages caused by the sun and thus won't fade easily. Aside from that, it dries fast! Water based paint takes 6 hours to dry. What's more it doesn't have any unpleasant odor.

The second type of paint, the oil based type, has a strong bad odor. This odor is not only hurtful to your senses but it is also not good for the environment. If you choose to use this type of paint, make sure you have good ventilation in your work area so that you won't suffocate. This type of paint is also no resistant to sun damages and easily fades when painted on furniture that is used outdoors. Consequently, only use this paint for indoor furniture. Moreover, this type of paint takes a long time to dry. On an average, it dries after 24 hours.
