A Preferred Method To Remove Dirt From Rugs

By Linda Middleton

Several types of carpet cleaning methods exist. Different kinds of people need different methods in order to keep their carpets cleaning enough to suit their individual standards. They range from straight vacuum to something a little more complex, but what is the best way to clean carpet?

Among those methods some are bottled and others require a van brought to your door. Between those are varying types from simple spray on applications to multi-application machines. There are really options for every type of person out there.

Some simple forms that can be found are like a spray on foam that is allowed to dry. These are common and quick forms of cleaning agents. Simply apply these directly to the stain in question, and let dry. Suck the mess up with a vacuum and you generally acquire decent results to a local spot.

Another type uses a powdered cleaning agent spread across a carpet, allowed to set in for 15 minutes. Then, utilizing a machine, the powder is pressed and worked into the carpet to increase its cleaning potential. Lastly, it is simply vacuumed up, taking dirt and debris with it. This is known as "dry cleaning" your carpet.

Some have opinions as to which methods work best, and that's what we're here to determine. We're going to look at what the general population feels is the more effective way of cleaning carpets. Just keep in mind that what works for a large group doesn't always work for individuals. Even if this is the most popular way you have to wonder if it will work for you.

The best method - as a matter of consensus - is steam cleaning it. It's not actually steam, of course, so it is somewhat incorrectly titled. But it does use lots of hot water! Even though it is the most popular answer to the question of which method is "better, " you should still look at the others and find the perfect one for you.

Often a machine will be required. You can rent them at grocery stores like a "Rug Doctor" for example. You can purchase one of your own, or pay a service to bring one and do it for you. This machine applies an extremely hot solution of water and cleaning agent to your carpet and then sucks up the excess dirty water leaving you with a cleaner looking carpet over all.

But as with all things there are a few downsides to this method as well. First of all, it is often considered the most expensive way to clean your carpet. It's not usually in danger of breaking your bank but it's a lot more costly than something you purchase in a box at the grocery store. In addition, it leaves your carpets slightly dewy so you won't be able to use them immediately after you're finished. It also requires you to move your furniture more often than not.

We've laid out a few ways to clean a carpet. The most effective, direct, and (presumably) the best way to clean a carpet is steam cleaning. At least, that is how a lot of people feel. Still, steam cleaning might not be right for you for any number of reasons. It's important for you to find the best way to clean carpet that suits you as a person and your household.
