The various oak buildings available

By Fred E. Brackett

One of the most common forms of oak buildings are timber framed garages. These buildings can be one or two storeys high or can have a loft instead of a second floor. Internal and external staircases can be had with the two storey models. It is also possible to add skylights or dormer windows to make the upper floor even more attractive within.

Many people have oak stables constructed. A three bay building will normally be 30ft by 18ft, which divides into a 10ft tack room with a door and window and two stables with a recessed walkway. However, being custom made, the stables can be larger and a first floor can also be added for staff.

A garden barn is a great addition if you want an outbuilding for year-round use. It can serve as accommodation, a summer house, an office, a studio, a gym - pretty much anything really. Again, they can feature more than one floor for even more space.

Garden offices are very popular with people who have need for such a building. A sturdy, durable oak office will stand the test of time. It will also be secure, which is vital if there will be office equipment inside. Such buildings are provided with double glazing and insurance-approved security locks which will provide peace of mind. You can also get different styles of glazing and the door and porch can be positioned at the corner of your choosing.

Pavilions are often bought by public authorities and they are also great for sports and country clubs. There are three standard sizes, but as with any oak building, these designs can be extended or adapted, depending on a person's requirements. With a full length veranda, glazed windows and French doors, they look impressive and there are optional extras such as disabled ramps as well.

A pool house has to look good and when made from oak with glazed doors and windows, that's certainly the case. An overhanging roof provides an ideal seating area and you can also get additional rooms. These can serve as changing rooms, storage space or you could even have a sauna.
