Not just devoted to delivering the highest standards in quality and service, UK carpet manufacturer Cormar Carpets have also shown great pride in their workforce by training all members of staff in the Business Improvement Techniques NVQ. With manufacturing businesses currently making up just 10% of the UK's entire GDP, this ambitious scheme, which has seen eighty team members at the Holme Mill and Brookhouse Mill sites in Bury trained to a high standard, is a promising sign for manufacturing businesses up and down the country.
Cormar's educational mission began towards the end of 2010, with the main aim to ensure that every operative achieved the next highest level in NVQ Business Improvement Techniques. Working on a range of projects in conjunction with Bury College, all operatives fulfilled their goal, with 64 gaining NVQ level two and 16 achieving a level three.
Manufacturing manager at Cormar Carpers, Paul Murphy, said "Cormar implemented the course to support personal development of its staff and every single member has done extremely well - we are very proud of their achievements. The scheme has really helped employees to take pride in their work, engage with the business and their improved knowledge will ultimately enhance the efficiency of our manufacturing plants."
In celebration of their achievements, the eighty-strong team was able to enjoy an evening of entertainment and a three-course meal at the Red Hall Hotel in Bury, with the funds raised from the night donated to charities in both Ramsbottom and Bury.
Produced to the highest of standards at mills in Greenmount and Ramsbottom, Cormar's range of carpets is distributed throughout the UK and Ireland using the company's own transport fleet. Large Carpet and Flooring Supplier AIS and Metro have consistently voted Cormar Carpets and Flooring Supplier of the Year, and Interiors Monthly has awarded the manufacturer their 'Best Customer Service' award for the past two years.
