10 Easy Methods to Give Your Lounge Room a Face Lift

Giving your living room a fresh new look needn't break the family bank. Making changes in the right places can ensure your room looks fresh and new without spending lots of cash. Here are ten easy ways to give your living room a face lift.

A Lick of Paint

A fresh coat of paint is one of most affordable ways to update the living room. To brighten up a large armoire, sideboard or cabinet, try painting the inside the same cheerful shade as the wall behind it.

Add Artwork

Create wall decor that sparkles by applying a metallic finish to an assortment of picture frames in various sizes and shapes. Order prints of family photos in black and white for a stylish look.

Room Lighting

It is cheap and easy to get new lampshades so update existing lighting with a change of shade. Drum lampshades create a modern look, particularly in black or grey.a ceiling rose will add drama to a pendant light.

Add a Feature Mirror

Mirrors can be effectively used to create the illusion of space and lighten a room. Don't overlook other ways to add polish and gleam to the room. Highly polished surfaces, glass and high-gloss paint are great for adding an extra dimension and textures.

Use wood beading or picture frames to create a paneled wall effect. Highlights and shadows can be added to give the illusion of paneling without actually having to do any handy work. If you fancy you can insert wallpaper within each panel.
