Designing the Interior for a Romantic Bedroom

By Daniel Chew

Romantic bedrooms are havens where you can put aside the stress and woes you have accumulated, and spend quality time with your partner. Given the stressful, hectic and fast-paced life that many working Singaporeans face, this is certainly something worth embracing. Your bedroom should have the right setting to sooth the raging beast in you after a day of hard work, and set the mood to a romantic and positive note.

Cleaning up of your bedroom could be number one on the list. The removal of clutter is just as crucial. Room clutter and messiness is surely a mood killer. Unnecessary items should belong to the storeroom, or be packed neatly under the bed or into the wardrobe.

Tough rules do not apply especially when handling a bedroom's interior design. Every individual has a different inclination towards romance, as an attractive design would not be as appealing to a different audience. First up on the list are colours, playing the most important role for that romantic design. The popular colour choice could be blue, red, or even purple. Calming blues, relaxing green and earth tones, are great choices too. Be careful when using yellow, as they can be overwhelming when used in large amounts. Red represents romance, love and passion. However, a bedroom splashed in red can be overwhelming. Try limiting it to smaller amounts, or even through the use of some designer furnishing.

The next area of emphasis will then be the bed. Be sure that the mattress suits your concept of comfort. As some individuals might require stronger support mattress for health reasons, do balance it with comfort as a enriching element to that romantic touch. Soft fluffy pillows and a well-matching, nicely textured bedspread should top it off nicely.

Lightings can also play a huge part in getting you and your partner into the mood. While many Singaporeans still prefer white lightings for practical reasons, there should also be wall or floor lamps that provide warm and softer lightings. Such alternative lightings will complement the chosen colour of the room.

Lastly, who's your favourite artist? How about a lovely art piece on your wall? This is up to personal preferences, bold drawings, abstract paintings or photographic art, can easily give your romantic touch a boost! A adorable image of the two of you can do wonders too.

A romantic bedroom may furnish the stage for lovey dovey couples or those seeking to relight the fire, however much of it rely upon your constant effort and state of mind. Keep your home free of problems and issues at work. Keep those financial worries away for the moment. Leave the sweat, dirt and grime in the bathroom. The bedroom is your sanctuary, enjoy it.
