I Designed Nairobi Hotel Bedrooms in Nairobi Kenya

By Giles Ingram

Nairobi is the capital city of Kenya, and is commonly referred to as the city in the Sun. Life in Nairobi is generally fast, compared to the other cities within the East African region. Even then, one of the most striking things about Nairobi, is the fact that it offers visitors the rare opportunity to enjoy the wild in the city, as it is home to the famous Nairobi national park that has various species of animals including the big five mammals. Moreover, the biggest airport is found in this city, this means that all visitors coming to Kenya must pass through Nairobi.

It really is because of all the above factors, that this city is effectively endowed with hotels that cater for the several guests which can be ever coming into this country. In most instances, guests who're going to other parts of Kenya will often invest a night in Nairobi, ahead of proceeding on their tour at daybreak. These range from top class hotels to standard hotels, hence your option of accommodation is dependent on how much you want to spend. The hotels are nicely furnished to give maximum comfort.

Having planned for a business trip to Nairobi on several occasions without being able to make the journey, I eventually got the chance under the invitation of the Hill Town hotel, where I was charged with designing the bedrooms. This is one of the hotels that is conveniently located, at the heart of the city and can be accessed with ease. As a five star hotel, it is frequented by some of many famous people, hence it has some of the best facilities possible. The rooms offer a perfect view of the city, both at night and during the day, even though it is the night view that is more breathtaking.

When I arrived here, I went straight to my agenda so that I could also get an opportunity, to enjoy the rest of the sights and sounds of Nairobi and the countryside too. As expected, I set out to determine the colors of the room. This was not an easy decision, especially considering the kind of visitors that the hotel receives. Eventually I settled on a color that would be perfect, for a business traveler and tourist alike, while portraying a lot of warmth.

With that done, I proceeded to make a selection of the pine wardrobes, with the perfect choice being a big wooden bed this was to match the status of the hotel. With so much room left, I also brought in an elegant small wardrobe that perfectly blended with the colors of the room and the rest of the items. I also introduced a sleek pine table within the designated study area alongside a chair to compliment it. Finally, I worked on the chandeliers as well as the curtains and wall hangings, to break the monotony in the feel of the plain wall. At the end of the design, warm cozy bedding was brought in to complete the room. In conclusion, the project was a huge success, as I managed to come up with a unique design, that is not only a plus to my portfolio but also a great success.
