Custom Wine Cabinets Are The Best Protection For Investment Wines

By Teri Farley

Some vintage wines sell for thousands of dollars and are considered to be investments. In order to ensure their investments retain their value, many collectors use custom wine cabinets. These can ensure that the bottles are safe and that they are not exposed to too much humidity, heat, or light.

Wine dates back as far as 6000 BC. Evidence has been found in Georgia that production occurred around that time period. There are numerous references in literature, poems, books, and even in the Bible. It is a favorite of both the wealthy and the poor, and can be bought for $10 or thousands of dollars.

This low alcoholic content beverage is usually made from grapes but often other fruit is used. The grape has a chemical that allows it to ferment without any added nutrients. This makes it ideal for people who own wineries. The end product comes in white, blush, and red. It also comes in numerous other types such as Port.

Some vintages that are made in prestigious vineyards sell for thousands per bottle. The definition of fine wines though, includes most wines that typically sell above $50. There are some wines that are used as investments and with these as they become more expensive they also are in higher demand.

In order to be considered highly collectible, the product must have a proven track record of standing up over time; they must have a maturity that is many years long; experts must agree that they are high quality; and there must be rigorous production methods. This includes both the grape and barrel aging processes. If you are purchasing an investment, you should make sure you do your research. There are some people who will state that the product is of a higher quality than it really is so that they can sell it to people that are not knowledgeable.

Stored correctly, wines can keep their quality and some will even improve. There are a few that have an aroma and flavor that has gotten better over time. In order for it to age it should be held between 55 and 59 degrees F. Some people have purchased refrigerators designed for this product but they do not age it. They merely keep it for a short period and chill it to the best temperature. Kitchen refrigerators are not optimal for storage as they do not regulate humidity.

Many people keep their wines in a cellar where the temperature and humidity are sustained by a climate-control system. Some are not climate controlled and these must be located very carefully. It is perishable and can spoil when exposed to light, heat, vibration, or even fluctuations in temperature or humidity. For this reason, many serious collectors will have their cellar made by professional craftsmen.

People store their beverages in a number of different ways. Some store their bottles in a simple kitchen refrigerator and others in climate control cellar. Only storing it in a high quality cellar will ensure your investment is sustained. Custom wine cabinets, designed to your specific instructions, can ensure your bottles are secure.
