By Christa Jarvis

These exotic mats need a lot of care especially when it comes to washing them. The good thing with these rugs is that they add a touch of beauty to the house whenever they are placed. Their fabric is sophisticated and unique that is why they give a beautiful touch to the house. In most cases they are placed in living rooms. In addition, most of them are imported from the Middle East countries. Considering how costly they are, undertaking oriental rug cleaning is vital.

Ensure that much attention is paid when cleaning the mat. Clean any stain immediately after its occurrence. It helps in saving the owner from stress of clearing it in future. Permanent stains and damage are avoided through this. Remember that leaving stains unattended to is costly, since it will require services of a professional cleaner. To keep of damage from dust and dirt, ensure that they are cleaned on a regular basis.

Ensure when using clearing equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, pay attention to clean both sides of your mat. This helps in loosening all dirt and dust that may be stuck on both sides of that mat. Use soft fist knocks to shake off grime and soil particles. This helps in bringing them to the surface. Vacuum both top and bottom.

Make sure that the chemicals you use are the most suitable ones. In most cases, vinegar and cold water are recommended especially for the tough stains. Most of the rugs are made of soft fabric and natural dyes. Therefore, it is wise to use only the soft chemicals so as not to damage the fabrics. Vinegar is recommended because it cleans naturally without damaging the mat.

When cleaning a given stain, ensure the right chemicals are mixed in correct quantities. Get the right concoction in a spray bottle. Get a soft brush to help in brushing off the stain. Use light sprays, doing it evenly on that rug. Upon cleaning the stain, ensure that it is left to dry. Put it under a shade away from direct sunlight to prevent heating the fabric.

To finish up the wash up process, get a soft sponge to dry up water. Use absorbent towels as alternatives. Use the direction of the nap to get rid of excess water. Place some absorbent dry towels to absorb excess water that may land on the floor. Ensure that the back is completely dry, ensuring that soft brushes are used on the fur.

The same concoction should be used on these fringes of the rug. Use the same style used in brushing hair on these fringes. Apply little amounts of vinegar on white mats. This is to avoid distorting the white fabric on that mat. Remember that white cotton fabrics turn brown if excess vinegar is used on them. Ensure a fan is used in order to dry up the excess vinegar from the carpet.

Spread the mat on the floor. It should be done under a good shade. This can be a good alternative to the fan drying method and is used in Corona Del Mar CA. For this method, ensure that the hard floor is dry prior to the spreading, to prevent growth of mildew and mould.
