By Paul Budde

Ordinary collectibles differ from the Western antique in one respect. The former are collected for the sake of personal belonging while the latter is sought for their connections with history and the past. It is this desire to be one with the time that defined the present status that has made it so unique.

Hobbies are the badges that one gets in life. If one has more hobbies, then he is more involved with people and society. It keeps the mind busy and helps the person understand what is going on around him in a clearer manner. It is not to be confused with leisure time. This is the time you relax or unwind. Some people prefer to do nothing in the time they have for their own.

Leisure time activities are different from a hobby. Leisure time is spent in thinking relaxing and planning your activities, your pursuits and planning your budget. Leisure time is the time you spend doing nothing. The mind and the body are at peace without any goal. There is a quality that comes because you are what you are and the people around you are what they are.

Hobbies make the person active; it activates the adventurous spirit in them and instigates them to go in search of their treasure. It may be old marbles or soda caps, but once they become involved in their quest, they become inseparable from their destiny itself. It drives life towards the horizons of achievement.

There are plenty of memorabilia, which are worth dying for. Among them are hats, guns, coins, old leather jackets, Bowie knife and similar items. Some belong to people who were instrumental in creating the history that we know of now. There are also photographs and photograph collectors. Definitely, one of the dimensions of time is defined by those who seek to achieve something, in spite of not having it.

It is the social status and the kind of neighborhood that determines the activities that one would involve in. People in a high class neighborhood will yearn for more jewelry and glamorous clothes. Social standing is important because many opportunities are created for those who are ranked higher than their neighbors are.

Having something unique makes you someone special. It turns the talk around and before you know it, you are explaining how the jacket or coin was a part of the famous Western tradition. This is a kind of fever that spreads and everyone is now after something, which is special.

It is those people who have a passion for the good and adventurous days of the west who try and collect things from the past. Western antique are the spirit and blood of those who love battles of the past and adventurous spirit of the past. Every person has something he likes, something that is different. When those things have a cultural backdrop, the person becomes valued in society.
