Outdoor Furniture Getting Cheaper

By Lucy Peterson

As the end of summer draws near, backyard furniture starts getting discounted. Merchandise can often be marked down as much as 60%, and there are still a few months of summer to be enjoyed.

This can be a good time to take advantage of deals on outdoor items, specifically on conventional designs and products that do not go out of style. In fact, many yard items on sale now will be back on store shelves next spring with higher prices on them.

Save $100's

Even though you may not get much use out of them this season, your patio gear will be ready and waiting for you next spring, most likely in new condition. Shoppers can save hundreds of dollars this way and sometimes purchase the exact items they want.

Getting More Value for the Money You Spend

Some patio furniture can also be used indoors. This means that these pieces can be used throughout the year. Purchasing these products doesn't always mean that they need to sit around for six months before you can use them.

For example, some backyard living room sets with plush chairs, couches and ottomans can be arranged in a TV room, den or guest bedroom. Furniture made of wicker weighs less and therefore easier to carry from a patio or deck to inside the house, which makes it easier to use year-round.

Cleaning Furnishings to Use Indoors

Some patio cushion covers can be removed and washed and others can be wiped clean using soap and water. Even though patio furniture is typically not as plush and cushioned as the indoor version, there is no reason why you couldn't toss a couple of extra pillows on top.

Double-Size Chaise Lounges Provide A Variety of Uses

Another example is the orbit chaise lounger. It is designed to be used outside, but it's flexible reclining positions and big stylish shape make it more functional indoors also.

Because of it's length, people could say that it is more comfortable than a traditional sofa when watching movies or reading a book. Users can elevate their legs and recline the lounge chair to position they find most comfortable.

This round lounger is also large enough to double as an extra sleeper for guests if needed. Even though the cushions can't duplicate the comfort of a mattress, this is an inexpensive solution for property owners who don't have frequent guests.

People can also get memory foam for about $25 to make the lounger more comfortable. This costs significantly less than purchasing an additional bed - or even an air mattress with an air pump.

No matter how you choose to use your outdoor furnishings throughout the off-season, buying them at discounted prices is an easy means to pay less and get more.
